NEW DELHI, India -- At least six people died and two others were seriously injured when a car collided with a parked truck on the roadside in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India in the early hours of Friday, confirmed a local cop over the phone.
Banda District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal said the accident occurred when an overspeeding car carrying eight people crashed into a truck in the Banda district of the state.
Five individuals lost their lives immediately at the scene and three others were taken to a community health center, where one person succumbed to their injuries.
The remaining two victims are currently in critical condition and have been transferred to a government hospital, the official said.
