Three out of eight local dance troupes from various barangays in Pasig City were announced as the top performing dance groups during the two-day "Indak ng Pasig" dance competition on June 28 to 29.
The dance competition themed, "Indak ng Pag-Asa sa Panahon ng Pasigueño," was held at the Tanghalang Pasigueño as part of the city's activities leading up to the 450th founding anniversary of Pasig on Sunday, July 2.
The three finalists who impressed the crowd and the judging panel with their energetic and dynamic presentations of the city's history, heritage, and culture were the Mananayaw ng Buting (from Barangay Buting), RHS Modern Dance Troupe (from Barangay Caniogan), and Pure Kwatro Batang Pineda (from Barangay Pineda).

The Mananayaw ng Buting showcased the roots of their barangay and of the city through a folk dance routine that sought to express the creation of the city's current 450th logo, integrated through the Iwasiwas Festival, celebrated by Barangay Buting as a religious and historical tradition.

RHS Modern Dance Troupe delivered an interpretative dance performance, mixing modern and traditional movements and styles depicting the daily life of Pasigueños throughout history to present day, and presenting the city government's major programs and achievements.

Pure Kwatro Batang Pineda gave a vibrant performance highlighting the rich culture of the city and the festive and joyful energy of Pasigueños as they celebrate 450 years.
The panel of judges for the competition consisted of Ronald Sto. Domingo, PJ Lapus, Justin Dee, Chris Cruz, Saicy Aguila, April Gustilo, and Albert Nerveza.
The awarding ceremony itself will be done during the Thanksgiving Night concert on July 2.
The grand champion winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize worth P50,000. The first and second runner-ups will get trophies and P30,000 and P20,000 respectively.
Consolation prizes worth P5,000 will also be given to all the dance groups who participated in the "Indak ng Pasig."
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto made a special appreance on the second-day of the competition to express his support to the dancers.
He urged the public to join the "Gabi ng Pasasalamat" concert that the city government prepared on Sunday night, along with the other activities set to celebrate the city's founding anniversary.
