Two injured as truck falls into ravine in Quirino highway

TAGKAWAYAN, Quezon -- A truck driver and his helper were injured after the wing van truck they were riding fell into a ravine in Quirino highway in Barangay San Vicente here on Saturday afternoon, June 3. The wing van, which was loaded with construction materials and heading for Bicol, fell into a ravine after the driver lost control of it while negotiating a curve in Quirino highway at around 4:15 p.m. One of the victims was identified as Roberto Sanchez Jr. Probers found out that the truck was about to overtake another vehicle but because of an approaching vehicle on the opposite lane, the driver swerved to the right but lost control of the truck. As a result, the truck hit the railing guard of the highway and fell into a ravine about 40 to 50 feet deep. The members of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office responded and sent the victims to the hospital.
