K-pop group Stray Kids’ ‘5-Star’ album sells 2.39 million copies on first day of release 


K-pop boy band Stray Kids set a personal record with the release of their third studio album “★★★★★ (5-STAR).” 

Stray Kids made their comeback on June 2 by dropping the album “★★★★★ (5-STAR).”

Based on Korea’s Hanteo Chart data, “★★★★★ (5-STAR)” sold 2,392,666 copies on the first day of release on June 2 to top the daily physical album chart. 

This set the record for the third highest first-day sales on Hanteo Chart after Seventeen’s “FML,” which garnered 3.99 million copies and BTS’ “Map of the Soul: 7,” which had 2.65 million copies. 

The first-day sales for “★★★★★ (5-STAR)” has surpassed the first-day and first-week sales records set by their previous album “Maxident.” 

“Maxident” sold 1,308,971 copies on the first day of release and 2,163,349 copies in the first week of release based on Hanteo Chart data. The album sold 2,658,920 copies by the end of 2022. 

Before its release, “★★★★★ (5-STAR)” set the record for the highest pre-orders for a K-pop album. 

It garnered 4.93 million copies in pre-orders as of May 30 and jumped to 5.13 million copies as of June 1.
