John Regala passes away at 55

Actor John Regala is dead. According to veteran entertainment journalist Aster Amoyo, the actor, real name, John Paul Guido Boucher Scherrer, died Saturday morning. This was confirmed by Regala's wife Victoria Scherrer in an interview with ABS-CBN. She was quoted as saying that the actor "died at 6:28 a.m. of cardiac arrest due to liver and kidney complications at the New Era General Hospital." Regala was last seen on TV via "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano." He has been in and out of the hospital due to various ailments including bouts with liver cirrhosis and diabetes. He started his career in the 80s as part of the late German Moreno's "That's Entertainment." Regala would eventually carve a name for himself as action star in the 90s.
