ISPSC president dies, 6 others hurt in Ilocos Sur bus-pickup truck collision

SANTA, Ilocos Sur - - The incumbent president of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) died and six others were injured in a collision between a bus and a pickup truck on the national highway in Barangay Mabilbila Norte here at noon on Saturday, June 3.

ARCE Police identified the victim as Dr. Gilbert R. Arce, president of the ISPSC and resident of Vigan City. Police have yet to identify the six injured passengers of the bus.

ARCE'S pickup truck was a total wreck. (Ilocos Sur PDRRMO) Initial investigation disclosed that a southbound Transport Pro bus and the northbound Raptor pick-up driven by Arce accidentally collided head-on. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The injured and Arce were rushed to a hospital where he wasÂ declared dead. Police are conducting follow-up probe. Arce was the president of the University of Northern Phillipines in Vigan City before he became ISPSC head.
