PNP, PENRO seize P1-M worth of illegally cut Narra lumber from three loggers in Nueva Vizcaya
ARITAO, Nueva Vizcaya – Almost P1 million worth of Narra lumber and flitches were intercepted in a checkpoint in Purok 3, Barangay Calitlitan here on Wednesday, June 28.
During the operation, police arrested the driver identified only as "Rudy," 45, and a resident of Matang Tubig, Baliuag, Bulacan, and two other helpers identified as alias "Dodoy," 31, of Sulivan, Baliuag, Bulacan, and alias "Marlon,"Â a businessman and a resident of Lira, San Juan, Ilocos Sur.
The anti-illegal logging operation was conducted by joint operatives of the Aritao police station and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) sub-office Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
At the checkpoint, the three occupants of the van were arrested after failing to present pertinent documents that would make the transport of Narra lumber and flitches legal.
Authorities confiscated 69 pieces of assorted Narra lumber and flitches with a total length of 1,870.750 board feet with a market value of P935,375.
Suspects are under the custody of the Aritao police and facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.
