PH Red Cross intensifies partnership with PMA to address mass casualty incidents
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) have intensified their partnership in order to improve coordination and resolve the nation's healthcare challenges in emergencies, disasters, and mass casualty incidents.
PRC and PMA held their first Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting on June 22 to strengthen cooperation through the execution of a comprehensive agenda, such as an analysis of how to strengthen the relationship, partnership implementation mechanisms, and the development of action plans. The meeting was spearheaded by PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang, together with PMA representatives, including Dr. Ferdinand Cercenia, Dr. Frederick Francisco, Dr. John Cataluna, Dr. Laarnie Moreno, and Dr. Henry Echiverri. "The 1st Technical Working Group meeting marks a significant milestone in our partnership with the Philippine Medical Association," Pang said in a statement. "By strengthening our collaboration, we aim to enhance our joint activities and coordination initiatives, ensuring comprehensive and efficient responses to healthcare challenges and emergencies," she added. Since the first signing of the Memorandum of Agreement in 2015, PRC and PMA have been actively participating in joint initiatives that show their dedication to community service. Moreover, in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, PRC and PMA also worked together to establish and administer isolation facilities, contributing to national response efforts. *(Rhowen Del Rosario)*
