Magnitude 5.4 quake hits Surigao del Norte — Phivolcs
A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Surigao del Norte on Thursday night, June 29, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

According to Phivolcs' initial earthquake bulletin, the quake occurred around 7:30 p.m. 100 kilometers northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte. It originated at a depth of 10 kilometers. There was no recorded intensity as the earthquake was not felt but aftershocks are likely to occur. Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.
