'Habagat' to bring scattered rain showers over parts of Luzon
Scattered rain showers may continue to affect several areas in Luzon due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, June 29.
Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan may experience light to heavy rains with thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA warned that these areas may experience flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country can expect “fair weather” with partly cloudy to cloudy skies, but isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA also advised the public to exercise caution during severe thunderstorms, as these can cause landslides or flash floods, especially in vulnerable areas.
Weather specialist Benison Estareja said PAGASA does not expect a tropical cyclone to enter the country’s area of responsibility until the weekend.
However, a cloud cluster east of Visayas has been monitored and may gradually approach southern Luzon in the coming days, he added.
Estareja pointed out that the likelihood of this weather disturbance developing into a tropical cyclone remains low.
