SAN NARCISO, Quezon – Two classrooms of the Abuyon National High School in Barangay Abuyon here caught fire after a lightning strike during a thunderstorm on Wednesday afternoon, June 28.
Residents told police that it was raining at about 1 p.m. when a sharp lightning strike suddenly hit, followed by a loud explosion near the school premises.
A fire broke out in one of the school buildings and the police and fire brigades from San Narciso, Buenavista, and Mulanay immediately responded. The fire was put under control at 2:50 p.m. and was declared fire out at 3 p.m.
No one was injured in the fire as students had no classes due to the Eid’l Adha holiday.
The BFP-San Narciso is still determining the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire.
