SPD seizes P3.6-M marijuana in NLEX buy-bust

The Southern Police District (SPD) conducted buy-bust operation leading to the
arrest of a high-value individual and seizure of some P3.6 million worth of marijuana at North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Valenzuela City on Tuesday night,June 27.

Brig. Gen. Kirby John Brion Kraft, SPD director, identified the suspect as Johnson Dengyas Segundo, 37, also known as Christian.

Kratt said the suspect was arrested at around 9:25 pm. at NLEX near Canumay Bridge in Barangay Canumay, Velnzuela City.

He said the entrapment operation was carried out by members of the SPD-Drug
Enforcement Unit (DEU) together with members of the District Special
Operations Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Valenzuela Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit, and other police agencies.

The SPD chief said the operating units were able to confiscate from the suspect  21 plastic-wrapped tubes containing dried marijuana leaves, blue sack filled with suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing approximately 30 kilograms worth ₱3,600,000; a ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money on top 199 pieces of ₱1,000 boodle money; a multi-color paper bag with a unicorn figure; a .40-caliber Jericho 941 PL handgun with magazine loaded with 12 live ammunition; an identification card; a cellular phone, and a black Toyota Fortuner with plate number GAL 2524.

Kraft said the suspect was detained at the SPD custodial facility after his arrest. He will be charged for violation of Republic At of 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act).
