“Today we join our Muslim brethren in marking Eid'l Adha. Through this feast, our Muslim friends remember and honor the prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice one of his sons as an act of obedience to God's command,” said the 1st District Representative of Leyte. “God would later provide a lamb for sacrifice, saving Ibrahim's son,” the Speaker said. Romualdez said this occasion reflects Filipino Muslims' quiet and enduring sacrifice toward a peaceful and prosperous life in their home country. “I assure you that these efforts aren't lost us public servants in government, and that the administration of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' R. Marcos Jr. continues to pursue genuine inclusive progress that would uplift the eveybody's lives,” the House leader said. Likewise, the House Speaker said the occasion of Eid'l Adha is also about sharing which is "core trait of Filipinos.” “Eid'l Adha is also commemorated through sharing and gift-giving. This harkens to a core trait of Filipinos wherein we tend to share to others what little resources we have, and we do so with a smile. It is these characteristics that keep Filipinos tightly-knit, whatever faith we may have,” he stressed. In a separate statement, Davao Del Norte 1st District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez, also paid tribute to the Muslim community for their significant contributions to society. “Malapit sa puso ko ang mga kapatid nating Muslim, kaya ako ay nakikibahagi sa selebrasyon ng Eid Al Adha bilang tanda ng aking suporta para sa kanila (Our Muslim brothers are close to my heart, that’s why I am one in celebrating the Eid’l Adha to show my support for them),” Alvarez said. “We know how they have struggled for reform to attain genuine autonomy and self governance in our beloved Mindanao, tingnan mo ngayon mayroon na silang BARMM (Now you see, they have the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao)," the former House Speaker also mentioned. Alvarez also said it is imperative for the government to acknowledge and honor the country’s Muslim heroes who valiantly fought for the country's freedom during the Spanish colonial period. The solon noted that the contributions of courageous individuals such as Sultan Kudarat of Maguindanao and Rajah Sulayman in Manila are often overlooked. Alvarez sheds light on the often-overlooked contributions of courageous individuals such as Sultan Kudarat of Maguindanao and Rajah Sulayman in Manila, whose bravery in confronting the Spanish colonizers played a significant role in our nation's liberation. "Hindi alam masyado ng mga Filipino pero marami tayong mga bayaning Muslim na matapang na nakipaglaban sa mga mananakop. Nandyan si Sultan Kudarat ng Maguindanao, si Rajah Sulayman dito sa Manila (Filipinos don't know much but we have many Muslim heroes who fought bravely against the invaders. There is Sultan Kudarat of Maguindanao, Rajah Sulayman here in Manila),” he said. “They have fought bravely against the Spanish in order to free our country,” Alvarez also stressed. Alvarez, at the same time, emphasized the need for unity and support among all citizens, and to work towards the common goal of national development. "Iwasan na natin yun sigalot at away-away (Let's avoid all that conflict and fighting). It is high time that we support each other and cover each other's back to further our common goal which is to develop as a country," the lawmaker emphasized.
