Remains of NPA leader unearthed in Cagayan

CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The remains of a New People’s Army leader was recovered in Sitio Antang, Barangay Santa Margarita, Baggao, this province, on Monday, June 26. The Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2 said the remains belong to Francisco Reyes, alias “Gundo,” “Piolo,” and “Gener,” who is under the Periodic Status Report of Threat Group (PSRTG) list for the first quarter of this year. Reyes was the leader of the remnants of Squad 3 Platoon of the East Committee Komiteng Probinsiya-Cagayan. He died in an encounter with the military and police in Barangay Tanglagan, Gattaran, Cagayan on March 17. A former NPA rebel led authorities to the burial site of Reyes. Reyes’ remains were taken to a funeral home in Baggao where he was seen by his family.
