Marcos, Duterte gain high trust, approval ratings — survey

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte received high trust and approval ratings in the June 2023 survey conducted by big data research firm Tangere. In the survey results released on Wednesday, June 28, 79 percent of Filipinos expressed trust in President Marcos, while 84 percent expressed trust in Vice President Duterte in the past six months. The President received the highest trust rating in the Visayas (83 percent), followed by Metro Manila (81 percent), while he got the lowest trust rating in Southern Luzon and Bicol Region (74 percent). The President also received high trust ratings from respondents belonging to Class ABC (82 percent), Class E (80 percent), and Class D (78 percent), while he got higher trust rating among females (82 percent) than males (78 percent). Meanwhile, Metro Manila had the highest level of trust (86 percent) for Vice President Duterte, followed by Visayas (85 percent). “However, there is a lack of trust among Mindanao dwellers (79 percent) for the vice president,” Tangere said. High trust ratings were also registered across all age groups and socio-economic groupings: 26 to 35 years old (86 percent), 36 to 50 years old (86 percent), 51 years old and above (80 percent), 18 to 25 years old (79 percent), Class ABC (86 percent), Class D (84 percent), and Class E (83 percent). Vice President Duterte, meanwhile, registered a higher trust rating among females (88 percent) than males (83 percent).

Most Filipinos satisfied with overall performance of Marcos, Duterte

According to the survey, 70 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with the overall performance of President Marcos, while 74 percent are satisfied with Vice President Duterte’s performance over the past six months. The President received high approval ratings across all areas—73 percent in the Visayas, 71 percent in Metro Manila, 68 percent in Northern and Central Luzon, 66 percent in Southern Luzon and Bicol Region, and 66 percent in Mindanao. His satisfaction ratings were also across all age groups and socio-economic groupings—18 to 25 years old (70 percent), 26 to 35 years old (70 percent), 36 to 50 years old (70 percent), 51 years old and above (68 percent), Class E (72 percent), Class ABC (69 percent), and Class D (69 percent). President Marcos, however, received a higher approval rating among males (72 percent) than females (70 percent). According to Tangere, “reflective of the trust rating, seven out of 10 Filipinos are satisfied with Vice President Sara Duterte’s performance and are propelled by females.” She received an approval rating of 79 percent among females compared to the 76 percent approval rating among males. Duterte’s approval ratings were high across all age groups and socio-economic classes—26 to 35 years old (76 percent), 51 years old and above (74 percent), 36 to 50 years old (73 percent), 18 to 25 years old (72 percent), Class E (76 percent), Class ABC (76 percent), and Class D (73 percent). Meanwhile, she received the lowest approval rating in Mindanao, at 68 percent, and the highest in Metro Manila and Visayas, both at 76 percent. According to Tangere, 1,800 people took part in the Trust and Performance Ratings survey, which was conducted from June 14 to June 16 using a mobile-based respondent application. It pointed out that the proportion of respondents was evenly distributed across the country—12 percent from Metro Manila, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
