Jaja Santiago is heading back to Japan after signing with V. League Division 1 team JT Marvelous, the club announced on Wednesday, June 28.
“With the addition of a new force, JT Marvelous will improve its team strength and advance as a team to win the entire tournament title,” the club wrote.
Santiago, who launched her overseas pro career in 2018, will be joining one of the powerhouses in the league that has won two of the past four championship titles.
The 6-foot-5 middle blocker just recently ended her three-season tenure with the Saitama Ageo Medics, during which she won the Best Middle Blocker award and was hailed as one of the Best Six in the league.
Not only the Filipina has been spotted training with Premier Volleyball League team Chery Tiggo in the past few weeks, but she was also listed in the Crossovers’ lineup as a reserve for the Invitational Conference.
Santiago, though, didn’t play in Chery Tiggo’s opening match in the mid-year conference, where they suffered defeat at the hands of defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers on Tuesday, June 27.
