It took the rescuers one day before the cadaver was found.

The name of the victim, who was about to graduate from elementary next month, was withheld.

Police Capt. Abegael Donasco, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the victim was invited by some of her friends to go swimming at Matab-ang River in Barangay Zone 15 on Tuesday, June 27.

However, her five companions were surprised when she suddenly went missing in the river.

Search and rescue operation was conducted on Tuesday afternoon after rescuers received the report.

But they halted the operation in the evening due to low visibility and their safety.

The following day, rescuers received a call from a resident informing them about the discovery of the victim’s body, a few kilometers away from where she reportedly drowned.
