‘Attorney Woo’ Park Eun-bin reveals fun side in Manila fan meeting: ’Mahal ko kayo’

Korean actress Park Eun-bin, best known for portraying lawyer Woo Young-woo in the hit drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” let her hair down as she met Filipino fans for the second time.

Park Eun-bin held her Fan Meet in Manila organized by Aromagicare on June 24 at the New Frontier Theater.

She is the first-ever Korean brand ambassador and endorser of Aromagicare, a brand of Filipino owned WIDE International, which offers health and wellness products, mainly the Aromagicare Therapy Oil.

Park Eun-bin is on cloud nine after winning the prestigious grand prize (or “daesang” in Korean) for TV at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards for her exceptional performance as a lawyer with autism in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.”

Last October, she was in Manila for her own “2022 Park Eun-Bin Asia Fan Meeting Tour: Eun-Bin Note: Binkan.”

“When I visited the Philippines last year, I didn’t expect the many fans at the airport and I was not able to greet them. But this time, I was able to greet them at the airport,” she said during a press conference at Marco Polo Ortigas held a day before her fan meeting.

She added, “Last year, I was here for my first Asia tour. This time I was invited by Aromagicare. I hope you will join us with Aromagicare and have a good moment.”

The 30-year-old actress started her acting career at age five, appearing in the 1998 drama “White Nights 3.98.” Before this, she also appeared in the 1997 morning drama “Love and Separation,” which starred Choi Min-sik and Jo Min-su.

Fan meet

At the fan meet, Park Eun-bin answered questions from fans, played games, danced and even sang.

The screams of the fans prompted her to say, “Are you okay? Bongga!”

About the most fulfilling part of being an actress, she said, “The love coming from international fans not only in Korea.”

If she was not an actress, Park Eun-bin said she wanted to be a doctor, professional, professor or a consultant.

In the “Bin It On” segment, she was given two choices and she had to pick one. She chose “sleep all day” over “eat on a buffet,” and “no internet” over “low battery phone,” saying she becomes nervous when her phone has low charge but having no internet was okay with her.

In “Bin There, Done That,” videos of her were shown and she revealed the stories behind them.

Park Eun-bin also made a flower arrangement for a lucky fan, and made a bracelet for the oldest fan in the audience, who turned out to be a 69-year-old woman.

“This is the one and only so I hope you will be happy when you receive this,” she said of the bracelet. She also played games with fans.

In addition, she also performed “Cupid” by K-pop sensation Fifty Fifty and “Especially For You” originally sung by  Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

She was touched when a video made by Filipino Bingos (fandom name) was shown at the fan meeting. Aromagicare and fans also gifted her with cakes on stage.

“Last October [during the fan meeting in Manila], I cried hard because I was touched with what you gave me. Just a little more and I’m about to cry but I really wanted to show you my smiling face so I tried very hard to control it,” she said.

She added, “Thank you so much Filipino Bingos for giving me huge support and love, and also to my international fans who are included in the fan video. I love you all.”

New drama, career goals

After the successful “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” Park Eun-bin will be starring in the drama “Diva of the Deserted Island,” which will air on tvN and Netflix.

“My next project is ‘Diva of the Deserted Island.’ Seo Mok-ha had an accident. For 15 years, she was on a deserted island. I hope you watch for it. I heard earlier that there are so many islands here so I feel that Filipino fans can relate. I hope you will support it since it will also be shown on Netflix,” she said at her press conference.

She started acting at a young age but she said, “I think there are so many characters that I have not done yet. I will carefully choose projects so that I can receive the Philippine fans’ support and energy. The best role will be my future role.”

For her new drama, Park Eun-bin has been practicing to sing.

“I’m fond of K-pop but now I’m listening to my song. In ‘Diva of the Deserted Island,’ my character wants to become a singer so I’m practicing now. If there is a chance next time, I want to show Filipino fans the original soundtracks from Korean dramas,” she said.

Winning the grand prize

Park Eun-bin also talked about her triumph at the Baeksang Arts Awards and she said winning the “daesang” (grand prize), the highest award given in entertainment awards in Korea, was her goal since she was young.

“When I was young, I really wanted to get that grand prize. That is why I was so happy when I achieved my dream. After that, many people asked me because that award was prestigious. It’s a big thing for me,” she said.

She added, “People were asking me if I didn’t feel burdened by the award. After I achieved my goal, I’m still happy even though I don’t have a [new] goal. Now I can’t say now what my goals or dreams are but I would like to enjoy my happy moment for now. After this, I will find future projects and plans.”

The grand prize is even more meaningful for her since it was awarded to her and not to “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.” Last year, “Squid Game” bagged the grand prize for TV at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

“This year, it was not ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ which received the award but Park Eun-bin, that is why it’s a big thing for me. As for my career, I’m still quite young so it’s really a big thing for me that I received the grand prize. I will do my best step by step,” she said.

She said, “With the massive support of fans including Filipinos, they really wanted me to win the popularity award. I knew that they worked hard by clicking. During the Baeksang Awards, I heard loud screams.”

When asked to name the highlight and challenge of her career, Park Eun-bin said, “When I say challenge, I think every moment is a challenge for me. After doing my work, that is when I know that is one of my challenges. My mom taught me that I should not wait for my birthday, that I should think that everyday is my birthday. That is why I tell myself that everyday is a blessing.”

“In general, it was when I received the grand prize,” she said of the highlight of her career.

About the Philippines, Park Eun-bin said she wants to visit Boracay.

“I have already visited Cebu but unfortunately, I have not been to Boracay. I hope that if there is a chance, I can go to Boracay.  If you already used Aromagicare, the products are really relaxing. That is why I want to use it when I chill on beautiful beaches here in the Philippines,” she said.

WIDE International founders April Martin, CEO, and Pauline Publico, president, were at the press conference to support Park Eun-bin.

“Mahal ko kayo (I love you),” said Park Eun-bin.
