Two more Korean actresses have been added to the cast of the second season of the global hit Korean series “Squid Game.”
Korean media reported that actresses Won Ji-an and Kim Si-eun will join “Squid Game 2,” which will start filming in July.

Won Ji-an is currently starring with OK Taecyeon in the Korean vampire romantic series “HeartBeat” that is aired on KBS2 in South Korea and streamed on Prime Video worldwide. She reportedly attended a table-read or script reading for “Squid Game 2” last week. Won Ji-an has appeared in the critically-acclaimed Netflix series “D.P.,” “If You Wish Upon Me” and “Hope or Dope.” Her agency declined to comment on the news reports, saying, “Please understand that it is difficult to confirm.” Actress Kim Si-eun is also joining “Squid Game 2,” according to reports. She bagged the best new actress award for the film “Next Sohee” at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards. Her agency, Keyeast, did not deny the report but only said that it cannot confirm it. Netflix also kept silent on the addition of the two actresses. Last June 23, it was reported by Korean media that singer and actress Jo Yu-ri, former member of girl group IZ\*ONE, and actress Park Gyu-young will be part of “Squid Game 2.” If they are confirmed, Won Ji-an, Kim Si-eun, Jo Yu-ri and Park Gyu-young will new contestants Im Siwan (Yim Siwan), Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun who were revealed by Netflix during the Tudum 2023 event in Brazil. Season 2 of “Squid Game” will see the return of Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo. “Squid Game,” released in September 2021, is Netflix’s biggest show with 1.65 billion hours viewed in the first 28 days on the video streaming platform. It tells the story of 456 people who are in financial difficulty who join dangerous children’s games for a prize of 45.6 billion won (about $34.8 million). After the success of season 1, Netflix announced the production of season 2 in June last year. Netflix is reportedly aiming to release "Squid Game 2" in 2024.
