Woman killed, husband wounded in Pangasinan shooting

A 48-year-old woman was killed while her husband was seriously wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Malaca, Urbiztondo, Pangasinan, on Monday night, June 26. Police identified the victims as Teresita, 48, and Porferio Monsad, residents of Barangay Real, Urbiztondo. Investigation said the victims were traversing the Basista-Urbiztondo Road onboard a motorcycle when unidentified gunmen opened fire at them. The couple sustained multiple bullet wounds and were taken to the Jesus Healing Hands Hospital in Barangay Poblacion, Urbiztondo and later transferred to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City. Teresita was declared dead-on-arrival while her husband is still under observation at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital. The Urbiztondo police and nearby police stations have established dragnet checkpoint and chokepoint operation for the apprehension of the suspects.
