Village watchman shot dead in Quezon

CANDELARIA, Quezon – A 47-year-old barangay tanod (watchman) was shot dead while on his way home in Barangay Pahinga Norte here on Monday, June 26. Police identified the victim as Randy Bastida Tapero. Investigation said Tapero was driving his motorcycle when two men appeared and shot him several times. Tapero died on the spot due to multiple bullet wounds and the suspects fled to an unknown direction. Police recovered four fired cartridge cases for caliber. 45 and a deformed slug in the scene. Lawmen carried out an “Oplan: Sita” in neighboring barangays to intercept the suspects and backtracking of surveillance footage has been undertaken.
