"The Fine Art of Rodel Gonzalez," a grand art exhibition and auction, officially arrived in Manila this June for its first local act. Rodel Gonzalez, the first and only Filipino among 35 artists worldwide who have exclusive rights to paint Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel, came personally to unveil his art exhibition that featured over a hundred paintings from Disney.
There were works from Star Wars, Marvel, and classic Disney icons. The show was absolutely brimming with pop culture references and nostalgic images from our halcyon childhood days.
The Manila art show, was held at the COLLAB Studio of Sheraton Manila Hotel in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.
Together with Gonzalez, and his manager, Lito Fugoso, the event was also graced by Nina Malvar, the President and CEO of Kartini Asia Gallery, Kingson Sian, President of Newport World Resorts, and Atty. Vic Noel, Chairman of Security Bank and the Vice Chairman of St. Luke's Medical City.

The exhibition was a well attended affair. There were art enthusiasts, as well as influential figures from the art, entertainment, and business industries. “I am filled with gratitude for the remarkable turnout at the exhibition. Curated meticulously by Kartini Asia Gallery, we were thrilled to see enthusiasts and collectors delighting in over the pieces I made. The positive response, the buzzing conversations, and the paintings that found new homes all affirm the show's success," Gonzalez said. One of the highlights of the evening was the auction of six art pieces spearheaded by the event’s host, Chris Tan. One of the pieces, “Soft Glow of Evening” was auctioned off for the benefit of the Tapulanga Foundation.

After the auction, Gonzalez then showcased his mastery of art during a 30-minute live painting exhibition. Embracing together his career in music and art, past and present members of Side A, which Gonzales co-founded and became part of, graced a mini-concert to end the night. “I think the common denominator of music and fine art is the creative process. It’s kind of like the same feeling where you’re in a recording studio, from nothing then lay down the drum tracks, the base track, and you see a song come to fruition. It’s the same thing I feel with a blank canvas and started painting,” said Rodel on his ventures to the industries of music and art.
The Fine Art of Rodel Gonzalez was presented by the Kartini Asia Gallery which celebrated its 20th year embodying Founder and CEO Nina Malvar’s vision of showcasing exquisite creations of eminent Filipino artists who excel and have demonstrated tremendous relevance in the themes of their art, such as in painting, sculpture, or photography.
Following this homecoming showcase held within the integrated resort, Gonzalez continues his art exhibit until July 2 at The Grove, 2F of Newport Mall.
