Police Capt. Thurslie Castillo, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, identified the suspect as Jonathan Gasalao, 40. Recovered from the suspect were the P500 marked money, an improvised glass tooter, three lighters, P231, and other non-drug paraphernalia. Castillo said that Gasalao is a newly identified individual but is also considered a high-value individual because of the huge volume of drugs recovered based on the parameters of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). A drug pusher is considered a high-value if more than 50 grams of illegal drugs are recovered from him. Castillo said they subjected the suspect to a one-month monitoring following revelations from previously arrested drug suspects. He added that the drug suspects identified Gasalao as an alleged distributor of illegal drugs. Because of such revelations, the suspect was included in the priority list of drug personalities of the police station, Castillo said. However, the suspect refused to reveal the source of the illegal drugs, according to Castillo. Castillo said they are checking the background of the suspect to determine if he has other cases. The suspect will be charged for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs, as well as illegal possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Castillo. In a statement, Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, acting regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, said honest and aggressive law enforcement operations fully supported by the community voluntarily gives valuable information to the police for the success of their anti-illegal drugs campaign.
