CEBU CITY – Police seized suspected shabu worth P21.5 million in a week-long operation in Central Visayas.
The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that 3.1 kilos of shabu were seized and 177 drug suspects were arrested in 151 anti-illegal drug operations conducted from June 18 to 28.
“I commend the bravery and dedication of our able, active, and allied police who worked tirelessly to keep communities safe,” said Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7.
The PRO-7 Regional Operations Division said 261 persons were apprehended for illegal gambling and bet money amounting to P30,267 and gambling paraphernalia were seized.
One-hundred thirty-two firearms, three explosives, and ammunition were either surrendered or seized and 25 persons were arrested as PRO-7 intensified its campaign against loose firearms as part of preparations for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, Aberin said.
Sixteen most wanted persons and 165 other wanted persons were arrested during the period.
“Our message is clear. We shall not stop until Central Visayas will become a safe haven for all of us,” Aberin said.
The PRO-7 chief called on the public to support the anti-criminality campaign as part of the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” or BIDA program of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.
