Manila- PESO provides jobs to 30 PWDs, senior citizens
The Manila- Public Employment Service Office (PESO) provided job opportunities to 30 persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens in the city on Tuesday, June 27.
Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan congratulated the PWD and senior citizen applicants for their new jobs.
She also thanked the management of Shakey's Pizza for giving job opportunities to Manilan jobseekers.
The program was in line with City Ordinance No. 8598 signed by former Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso in March 2020.
Under the ordinance, fast food corporations are mandated to provide temporary employment to qualified senior citizens, differently-abled, and PWDs in the city.
According to Shakey's management, 18 of the hired residents were senior citizens, while 12 were PWDs.
Meanwhile, the hired senior citizens and PWDs expressed their gratitude to the city government and Shakey's.
"Maraming salamat sa Shakey's sa ibinigay na oportunidad upang ako ay makapag-trabaho, sa PESO na tumutulong para hanapan ako ng trabaho, kay Vice Mayor Yul at Mayor Honey sa kanilang kalinga sa mga PWDs, at pagmamahal sa amin (Thanks to Shakey's for giving me the opportunity to work, to PESO for helping me find a job, to Vice Mayor Yul and Mayor Honey for their support and love for PWDs)," a hired PWD expressed in sign language.
"Alam namin na iisa lang hangarin ng ating mayora, upang kami ay matulungan at mabigyan ng pagkakakitaan (We know that our mayor has only one desire, and that is to help us and provide us with jobs for us to earn)," one of the hired senior citizens said.
