The awarding ceremony will be held on June 29 during the opening ceremony of BIFAN. “D.P.” actor Kim Sung-kyun, director Han Joon-hee, executive producer Byun Seung-min and producer Kim Dong-min will attend the event.

The BIFAN award was announced ahead of the premiere of “D.P.” season 2 on Netflix on July 28.

“D.P.,” which stands for deserter pursuit, is about a team in the Korean military police which catches those who abandon their military duty and not returning to their units.

The first season of “D.P.,” set in 2014, spotlighted the abuse, bullying and violence in Korea’s military service, which is a contentious issue. Some of the deserters depicted in “D.P.” were victims of bullying and abuse perpetrated by their superiors and fellow soldiers.

BIFAN established the Series Film Award last year to honor drama series. The first winner was “Squid Game.”

“This year, BIFAN pays attention to the trend of combining movies with various popular cultures such as K-webtoons with the keyword ‘movie+,’” said Executive Chairman Cheol Shin.

“D.P” previously won best drama at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards and Blue Dragon Series Awards.
