During the Laging Handa briefing on Tuesday, June 27, the controversial lawyer and staunch supporter of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. explained what he plans to do for poverty alleviation in the country.
Gadon also thanked the President for the trust given to him, and promised to do his best.
The lawyer said his BBM Movement will complement the Nutrition Month this July.
“Kung sila ay kumpleto ng nutrients sa katawan, mas magiging maganda ang kanilang focus sa edukasyon (If they have complete nutrients, they will focus more on education),” he said.
“At kung sila ay magkakaroon ng edukasyon, ‘yan ay magdudulot sa kanila ng magandang kinabukasan at dito ay magkakaroon ako ng mga programa tungkol sa nutrition and feeding programs (And if they are educated, they will have a better future and we will have here nutrition and feeding programs),” Gadon added.
His experience in the corporate world working with a variety of industries, which he explained might be the reason he was tapped to be the President’s adviser, will also come into play as he fulfills his duties.
Sharing that he worked previously in manufacturing, hotel and restaurant, health care administration, realty, development, and construction industries, the new anti-poverty czar plans to tap big companies to contribute to the BBM Movement.
“I will encourage them, I will have a link with them for them to adopt this program as their corporate social responsibility,” Gadon said in Filipino, referring to the big companies.
“Sila ay mag-ampon o mag-adopt ng isang public school sa kanilang nasasakupang areas upang sila ay magbigay ng tulong sa ating mga kababayaan lalong lalo nasa elementary schools na kulang ang nutrition (They will adopt a public school in their areas to provide help for our countrymen especially in elementary schools where there’s a lack of nutrition),” he added.
Meanwhile, the lawyer also plans to focus on strengthening micro-industries to provide jobs for Filipinos.
In an interview with radio station dzBB, Gadon said he would pattern this after a system in China and Taiwan, wherein citizens get jobs with the help of small industries.
Gadon, who lost as senator during the 2022 elections and who is still under preventive suspension by the Supreme Court for hurling profanities against journalist Raissa Robles, maintained he would not apologize for his verbal attacks against critics of the Duterte administration.
He pinned the blame on the subjects of his tirades as he alleged they were spreading fake news. The lawyer added that they should instead be thankful he didn’t have them killed.
