The PAHAYAG 2023 Second Quarter Survey (PQ2) results by Publicus Asia, a lobbying and campaigns management firm, showed that the AFP shared the second to third spot with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as among the most approved and trusted government agencies.
However, the survey showed that the AFP has experienced a “slight decline” in its approval rating at 66 percent and trust rating at 56 percent, compared to its 69-percent approval rating and 59-percent trust rating during the first quarter survey.
“The AFP remains thankful for the trust and confidence of the Filipino people as we remain to be among the top-rated government agencies as shown in the Publicus Asia Pahayag survey,” Lt. Col. Enrico Gil Ileto, chief of AFP public affairs office, said on Monday night, June 26.
“Nonetheless, we will take this as a challenge to further improve in the performance of our mandate as protector of the people and the state. We have gotten in touch with Publicus Asia regarding this to better understand what areas of our services could be further improved to ensure that we remain worthy of the Filipino's trust and approval,” he added.
The list was topped by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which garnered the highest level of approval at 72 percent and trust at 58 percent.
“We congratulate TESDA for the top spot. They have been one of our reliable partners in helping and providing better opportunities to people in areas we are deployed including our former rebels. This shows that their efforts are effective in reaching underprivileged Filipinos and are appreciated by the people they have served,” Ileto noted.
Other government agencies in the list were the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), Department of Tourism (DOT) and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), and Philippine National Police (PNP).
The independent and non-commissioned survey was conducted from June 7 to 12 among 1,500 respondents randomly drawn from a market research panel of over 200,000 Filipinos across National Capital Region (NCR), North Central Luzon (NCL), South Luzon (SL), Visayas (Vis), and Mindanao (Min).
