Two dead, two injured in two separate accidents in Atimonan, Quezon


ATIMONAN, Quezon – A minor girl was killed while two others were injured during an accident involving a wing van truck that hit four parked motorcycles on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tinandog here on Sunday afternoon, June 25.

According to the Atimonan police report, the fatality was identified as “Coleen,” a resident of Barangay Tinandog, while the injured were Dolce Lagdameo, 41, housewife, and Joel Bituin, 27, manager, also a motorcycle owner.

The wing van driver was identified as Eric Timbal, 38, single, and a resident of Purok Masayahin, Barangay Isabang, Tayabas City, Quezon.

The owners of the four motorcycles that were bumped off in the accident are Henry Lagdameo, 41; Diogenes Millete, 55, and Steward Millete, truck helper, 32.

According to the report, around 1 p.m., Timbal was driving the truck and was crossing the road towards Manila when he suddenly encroached the outer lane and crashed into a house next to the street as well as the victims and parked motorcycles.

The victim suffered serious injuries and died on the spot while Bituin was dragged by the truck. Lagdameo and Bituin were brought to the Doña Marta Hospital.

The driver, who was unscathed in the accident, would face a criminal complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and multiple damages to property.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Tagbakin here, a rider was also killed when the motorcycle he was driving was hit by a truck at around 3:50 p.m. on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Rommel Oriel, a laborer and resident of Barangay Tagbakin.

The truck driver was identified as Gaspar Camedo, 43, a resident of Barangay Bagong Bayan in Taguig City.

Based on the Atimonan police report, the Manila-bound truck allegedly encroached the lane for the motorcycle and hit the victim, who died due to a fatal injury he sustained.

A criminal complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property will be filed against Camedo.
