MisOcc extends P300,000 cash reward each to two surrendered rebels

ILIGAN CITY -- The provincial government of Misamis Occidental (PGMO) has extended financial assistance in the amount of P300,000 each to two young ladies who voluntarily surrendered to the Army 10th Infantry (Steady on) Battalion last month.
Decel Gumangay delos Santos, alias "Baby," 17, and Aiza Relampago Baron, alias "Jane," 25, were former members of Iskwad Dos, Platoon Uno, GF Sendong, said Lt. Col. Jose Andre R Monje, commander of the 10th Infantry Battalion.
Misamis Occidental Gov. Henry S. Oaminal handed over the cash assistance to the two former rebels during a simple ceremony held at the Cultural Center on Friday, June 23. Baby and Jane surrendered on May 29.
The activity was witnessed by 10th IB commander Lt. Col. Jose Andre Monje, local chief executives, and board members in the province.
Monje said the decision of the two to surrender highlighted the effectiveness of the collaborative efforts of the PGMO and the 10th IB in addressing insurgency and promoting peace and stability in Misamis Occidental.
Their choice to reintegrate into society serves as a testament to the belief that the comprehensive peace building endeavors, guided by the rule of law, can yield positive outcomes.
Through such dedicated and cooperative approaches, the province aims to achieve lasting peace, and create an environment that is conducive to progress and prosperity for all its residents.
The Misamis Occidental province expressed its appreciation to the 10th IB for their unwavering commitment to peace and security, and their tireless efforts that have made a significant impact in bringing about enduring stability to the province.
Monje reaffirmed his confidence in the report, emphasizing that Misamis Occidental is steadily progressing towards becoming insurgency-free in the near future.
