Herbosa to recommend lifting PH's Covid-19 public health emergency
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro "Ted" Herbosa said on Monday, June 26, that he will recommend lifting the country's state of public health emergency as the number of Covid-19 cases and fatalities remains low.

"I would actually ask the lifting of the public health emergency in the country," he said in an ambush interview. "It's just one of the diseases we monitor just like influenza and cough, colds, etc.," he added. Despite the decrease in reported Covid-19 patients, Herbosa noted in past interviews that the public should remain vigilant against the virus. This can be done by getting boosted and following minimum public health safety protocols, he said. The World Health Organization announced last May that the public health emergency of international concern is no longer in effect. It was first declared at the height of the pandemic and was the highest level of alert for Covid-19.
