Acting BJMP chief now Jail director


President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday, June 26, named Ruel Rivera as the new chief of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) under the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

A career officer, Rivera has been the acting BJMP chief since March 28 and will now be Jail chief with the rank of Jail director. Prior to that, he was the jail chief superintendent.

He replaced former chief jail director Allan Iral, who retired this June.

Rivera finished his public safety degree from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), and was a member of the PNPA Patnubay Class of 1995.

He received his Master in Public Administration degree from the Batangas State University. He also obtained some units in Philosophy on Educational Management at the University of Rizal System.

On Monday, Malacañang also announced the appointments of lawyer Lorenzo "Larry" Gadon as Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation and former Defense officer-in-charge Carlito Galvez Jr. as chief of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).
