13 families displaced by landslide in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – At least 13 families were displaced after a landslide hit a barangay here on Monday morning, June 26.
SEVERAL houses were destroyed when a landslide hit Barangay Cantipla 2, Cebu City on Monday morning, June 26. (Photo via Ramil Ayuman) According to the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services, at least 13 houses were affected by the landslide-stricken area in Sitio Cantipla 2, Barangay Sudlon 2. The affected families consisting of 57 individuals were evacuated to safer grounds. Ramil Ayuman, who serves as Mayor Michael Rama’s assistant for special projects, said canned goods and rice were distributed to affected families. No one was injured when the landslide occurred past 7 a.m. Nine other houses are also in danger if soil movement continues in the area, Ayuman said After the affected families were evacuated, the area was cordoned off to prevent untoward incidents from happening, Ayuman said.
