Widower dies after being hit by car in Quezon


SAN NARCISO, Quezon – A 64-year-old man died after he was hit by a motorcycle in Sitio Dagmit, Barangay Vigo Central, this town, on Saturday morning, June 24.

Police identified the victim as Emanuel Areada, a farmer and widower.

Investigation said Areada was crossing a street when he was hit by the unregistered motorcycle driven by Dexter Gonzales, 27, also a farmer and resident of Barangay Bukal, Buenavista, Quezon.

Police found out that Gonzales was driving without a license and was not wearing a helmet when he struck Areada.

He and Areada sustained injuries and were taken to the San Narciso Municipal Hospital where the latter died due to serious injuries.

Gonzales was taken into custody and faces a homicide complaint.

The suspect had a back rider, Floriano Ragalario Jr., whom the police did not mention in their report. They were on their way to San Andres, Quezon when they figured in the incident.
