Yuka Saso recovered from a double-bogey mishap on the front nine and shot a 2-under-par 69 for a share of eighth place after three rounds in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Springfield, New Jersey on Saturday, June 24 (Sunday in Manila).
After a front side 36 following two birdies, a bogey and a double bogey on the sixth, the Fil-Japanese regained her poise by firing three straight birdies starting at No. 10. She added another birdie on the 15thbefore fumbling with a bogey on the 17th for a three-round total of 211, five strokes behind solo leader Leona Maguire. Maguire tightened her hold of the top spot with a 69 for 206, while Jenny Shin threatened at second, trailing only by one stroke after a scorching bogey-free 66 that was highlighted by five birdies. Stephanie Meadow was also at third with 208 following a third-round 67, while Rouning Yin and Lee-Anne Pace were tied at fourth with 209 after posting 69 and 70, respectively.
