A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing money and a cellphone from a house in Tondo, Manila on Sunday, June 25.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Mark Nuguid alias "Mac-Mac," 22, a resident of Kapanalig Street, Caloocan City, and a member of the "Commando" street gang.
According to the initial investigation, the 38-year-old male victim was asleep when the suspect broke into his house at around 2:30 a.m.
Police said the suspect left after allegedly taking the victim's cellphone, cash worth P4,600, and slippers which were placed beside the victim's bed.
When the victim woke up, he noticed that his personal belongings were missing, which prompted him to immediately seek assistance from the barangay officials and bystanders who saw the suspect come out from his house.
Police and the barangay officials went to the suspect's house and found the victim's missing slippers, however, the cash, and cellphone were not recovered.
The suspect will be charged with violation of Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code (Theft) before Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
