REFLECTIONS TODAY
“Stop judging, that you may not be judged” ((v 1) is one of the most popular lines in the Gospel. Here Jesus strongly reminds the people to refrain from passing judgment on others. How commonplace it is for people to see the faults of others rather than their own. Jesus teaches us that we must be mindful of own faults and sins, rather than find fault with others, behaving like busybodies and indulging in gossips. This is the kind of attitude that Jesus is condemning. How humble are we to accept that we need to grow in many aspects of our life? Are we able to identify the gray areas of our being so that we can grow as Christians according to the precepts of our Lord? How appreciative are we of the accomplishments of our companions, rejoicing in their gifts rather than being jealous of them and putting them down? Gospel • Mt 7:1-5 Jesus said to his disciples: “Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ while the wooden beam is in your eye? You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.” Source: “365 Days with the Lord 2023,” St. Paul’s, 7708 St. Paul Rd., SAV, Makati City (Phils.); Tel.: 632-895-9701; Fax 632-895-7328; E-mail: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]); Website: [http://www.stpauls.ph](http://www.stpauls.ph).
