Drug suspect killed, cop wounded during buy-bust operation in Zamboanga del Norte

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A drug suspect was killed while a police operative was wounded during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Kauswagan, Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte on  Saturday, June 25. Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-9 public information officer, identified the fatality as Faizal Labbay Cailo, 57. Cailo transacted  with a police poseur-buyer but he sensed that he was dealing with a lawman. After the transaction,   Cailo allegedly  drew his firearm and shot the policeman. The police operative, who was wearing an issued bullet-proof vest, fired back at Cailo and was hit in the chest. Police brought Cailo to the Siocon District Hospital in Zamboanga del Norte where he was declared dead on arrival. Lawman recovered a .45 caliber pistol with ammunition, a motorized pump boat, two sachets of suspected shabu weighing one gram, and P500 marked money.
