Undrafted Fil-Am Kihei Clark lands spot in Utah Jazz Summer League team
While most of the spotlight is on 7-foot-3 Filipino center Kai Sotto, another Fil-American in Kihei Clark is also hoping to make an impression in the Summer League to land a spot in the NBA.
Clark, who went undrafted in the recently concluded 2023 NBA Draft, received the invitation from the Utah Jazz and will see action for the team first in the Salt Lake City Summer League on July 3-6 before the Las Vegas off-season tiff on July 7-17. The 5-foot-10 Virginia Cavaliers standout averaged 10.7 points, 5.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game and a 35.2-percent clip from three-point territory. He once saw action in the NBTC Division 1 High School All-Star Game at the Mall of Asia Arena where he played alongside then FilAm Sports teammate and now Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green. Clark actually had pre-draft workouts with teams like the Lakers, Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, and Charlotte Hornets but went on with the Jazz team where he will join reserves Ochai Agbaji, Micha Potter, and Luka Samanic along with No. 9 pick Taylor Hendricks and No. 16 Keyonte George. The Jazz will play Oklahoma City, Philadelphia and Memphis in Salt Lake before taking on Minnesota, Denver, and Phoenix in Las Vegas.
