Regada Water Festival returns in Cavite City after pandemic hiatus
Cavite City once again celebrated Regada Water Festival after three years of hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Residents and tourists came in droves to Regada Avenue on Saturday, June 24, where they reveled in a concert to celebrate the feast of St. John, the Baptist.

Sprinkler pipes installed along the avenue drizzled water onto attendees as they enjoyed the music of Kamikazee, Silent Sanctuary, Nik Makino, and other artists.

The concert concluded a week-long series of activities, which included Palarong Caviteño, LGBTQ+ Parade of Lights, a coastal clean-up drive with Binibining Pilipinas beauty queens, and Basayawan Dance Competition. Present during the celebration were Cavite 1st District Rep. Jolo Revilla, Mayor Denver Chua, Vice Mayor Raleigh Grepo Rusit, and other local officials.

In a video streamed live through his Facebook page after the concert, Chua thanked everyone who helped mount the event. He said all their hard work was well worth it, as the attendees had fun. According to the festival’s official Facebook page, Regada comes from the Spanish word "regar" used by Chavacano-speaking Caviteños to pertain to sprinkling water.
