At the PRC's 50th anniversary celebration, PRC Secretary-General Gwendolyn T. Pang signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with PRC Commissioner Erwin Enad. "The current population in the country, based on statistics, is about 113 million. We need at least one percent of the total population to donate blood each year for our nation's adequate blood supply." "I strongly believe that organizing an annual blood drive like this in partnership with the Commission is a huge step towards attaining that mission to make blood supply enough for our country and accessible to patients who need a regular blood transfusion to survive," Pang added. Commissioner Enad strongly encouraged all of the government workers to participate in the cause by stating “Kahit isang milyon lang doon ang makumbinsi na maging regular blood donors, malaking tulong na. (Even if only one million can be convinced to become regular blood donors, that will be a big help)," Enad said. "Your blood is precious. Give blood to help others live longer," it added. As part of the drive, 179 units of blood were collected from various locations around the Philippines, including the PRC National Blood Center in Manila as well as blood facilities in the cities of Legazpi, Iloilo, Tacloban, Pagadian, Koronadal, Butuan, and Palawan.
