BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-four earthquake jolted Surigao del Norte on Saturday morning, June 24.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was registered at 2:04 a.m. and its epicenter was 19 kilometers (kms) northeast of Claver, Surigao del Norte.
The tremor had a depth of 17 kms, Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs the tremor was felt at Intensity II in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte and Intensity I in Hinunangan, Southern Leyte.
No damage or aftershocks are expected from the tectonic earthquake caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
The Surigao del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury from the earthquake.
