Pasig City roads will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, to make way for the city’s Pride March in celebration of Pride Month. According to the Pasig Public Information Office (PIO), the affected roads include the westbound lane of Caruncho Avenue (in front of the Pasig City Hall), M. H. Del Pilar Street, E. Angeles Street, Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue (from Rotonda to Eagle Street), C. Raymundo Avenue (from Mercedes Avenue to Rotonda), Kaginhawaan Bridge, Eagle Street. F. Legaspi Street, and C. Caparas Street. These roads will be closed portion by portion, said the PIO. A two-way traffic scheme will also be implemented on Caruncho Avenue, beside La Immaculada Concepcion School. The Pride March will begin at the Pasig City Hall Quadrangle and end at Arcovia City. The PIO released an advisory on the multiple alternative routes for motorists as follows: Vehicles coming from San Joaquin going to Marikina can either enter Caruncho Avenue or G. Raymundo Street. From there they can turn left/right to F. Manalo Street, left/right to Caruncho Avenue, left/right to Market Avenue, and finally to C. Raymundo Avenue. Vehicles coming from San Joaquin going to Rotonda can take R. Jabson Street, go straight to Dr. Sixto Avenue, then turn left to Pasig Boulevard Extension. Motorists coming from the Mega Market going to San Joaquin or Pateros have two options. They can take Balderrama Street, turn right to F. Antonio Street, go straight to G. Raymundo Street, right to R. Jabson Street, left to P. Burgos Street, left again to Lopez Jaena Street, another left to Dr. Garcia Street, turn right to R. Jabson Street, and cross Bambang Bridge. The other option is to go to Caruncho Avenue to Plaza Rizal, turn right to P. Burgos Street, left to Lopez Jaena Street, left to Dr. Garcia Street, then right to R. Jabson Street. Those coming from San Joaquin or Pateros going to the Mega Market can either enter G. Raymundo Street or Caruncho Avenue, then turn left/right to F. Manalo Street, then turn again to Caruncho Avenue. Vehicles coming from the Mega Market going to Quiapo or Crossing can go to Caruncho Avenue, turn right to Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue, then left to Pasig Boulevard Extension. Vehicles coming from the Mega Market going to Marikina (via Rotonda) can take Market Avenue, turn left to Mercedes Avenue, then right to C. Raymundo Avenue. Vehicles from Rotonda going to the Mega Market can take A. Mabini Street, turn left to Col. Flores Street, then turn right to Caruncho Avenue. Motorists from Dr. Sixto Avenue going to Rotonda can either go to Stella Maris Street or the Ortigas Avenue Extension, then turn right to C. Raymundo Avenue. Motorists coming from the C-5 Road going to C. Raymundo Avenue (via Rotonda) can take the Ortigas Avenue Extension then turn right to C. Raymundo Avenue. Moderate to heavy traffic is also expected in these areas from 3 p.m. onwards.
