CEBU CITY – The National Bureau of Investigation-Central Visayas (NBI-7) warned the public against some individuals posing as NBI agents.
“Let us know if there are people posing as NBI agents and we will verify,” the NBI-7 said in a statement on Friday, June 23.
The NBI-7 said there had been recent incidents where some individuals posed as NBI agents.
Fortunately, those incidents were “nipped in the bud,” the NBI-7 said.
The agency also issued some tips on how to spot a fake NBI agent.
Asking for a batch number and a badge number is important, it said.
Asking where the supposed NBI agent trained will also be helpful.
The NBI-7 said that there are only three training centers for NBI agents – the NBI Academy in Baguio City, the Department of Justice facility in Tagaytay City, and the NBI main office on Taft Ave. in Manila.
The NBI-7 said there are only 700 agents deployed all over the country and most of them graduated from the NBI Academy in Baguio.
