Philippine Airlines (PAL) has undertaken measures to normalize its operations and minimize disruptions to thousands of passengers after cancelling eight international flights midweek due to aircraft maintenance, according to the flag carrier's spokesperson, Cielo Villaluna.
"To enhance efficiency and reduce aircraft servicing time, we are making changes to our maintenance procedures without compromising safety and aircraft reliability," she stated.
Also, "We are regularly reviewing our flight capacity to ensure that maintenance schedules are met," she added.
On top of these PAL is implementing more specific measures such as seeking for more sources of critical parts suppliers in the market and acquiring an additional A321-CEO to join its fleet in the first week of next month.
Already, PAL is finalizing lease arrangements for a couple of additional aircraft, a Q400 plus an A330.
Another aircraft, an A320, is expected to return from storage in the first week of August this year.
Furthermore, "Our leaders have signed a Purchase Agreement for nine brand new aircraft from Airbus," Villaluna pointed out.
PAL recently finalized a purchase agreement with Airbus for nine A350-1000 long range aircraft for its non-stop services from Manila to North America, including to the East Coast of the US and Canada.
