Mayor Wes breaks ground for 3 education buildings in Valenzuela City
The Valenzuela City government on Thursday, June 22, broke ground for the construction of three new facilities in Barangay Bagbaguin that will help provide better and quality education to learners in the city.
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian led the groundbreaking ceremonies for the Bagbaguin Elementary School, Bagbaguin National High School, and a multi-purpose building along P. Jacinto Street, along with Valenzuela City Vice-Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja.
According to the city government, the three buildings are part of the “Proyektong Kakaiba” that aims to bring government services closer to Valenzuelanos by building facilities near them.

“Kahit kulang ang lupain dito sa Valenzuela, hindi iyon rason upang huminto ang ating mga proyekto. Kailangang tuloy-tuloy lang ang pag-iisip natin ng serbisyong kakaiba, proyektong kakaiba na first time mararanasan dito sa Valenzuela.” (Even if we do not have enough spaces here in Valenzuela, that is not a reason to stop with our plans. We should continue coming up with exemplary and pioneering projects),” Gatchalian said. The city government said that Bagbaguin is one of the barangays in the second district that is increasing in population, and an additional school would be a great support to the community. The Bagbaguin Elementary School will have of two four-storey buildings. The first building has a total project cost of P30,200,000, with a total lot area of 2,453 square meters and will have 12-classrooms. The other building is worth P41,200,000, with 16 classrooms and will be built on 2,453 square meters of land. Bagbaguin National High School will also be a four-storey building with 12 classrooms built on 2,164 square meters lot area. It has a total project cost of P30,200,000. Meanwhile, the Bagbaguin Multi-purpose Building will be a two-storey establishment that will stand on the 809 square meters lot, with a project cost of P42,320,139.57. It will feature different facilities and amenities such as basketball court with bleachers, 16-slot parking area, 4-slot motorcycle parking area, fire exit stairs, and toilets. During his term as the city representative, Gatchalian said that it has been the aspiriation of the residents of Bagbaguin to have a school built close to their barangay. “Ngayon, ang kanilang matagal nang pangarap ay mangyayari na. Inihahandog natin sa taumbayan dito sa Bagbaguin ang hindi lamang po Elementary School, hindi lang National High School, kundi isa ring magandang sports center (Now, their longtime wish will come true. We present to Barangay Bagbaguin not only an Elementary school and National High School, but also a nice sports center),” the mayor said. Present during the groundbreaking activity were Councilors Jon-jon Bartolome, Niña Lopez, Mickey Pineda, Gerald Galang, Chiqui Carreon, Louie Nolasco— City Councilors, Barangay Bagbaguin Chairmn Abegail Dela Cuesta, Department of Education (DepEd) Valenzuela Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Alejandro Ibañez, Department of Public Schools and Highways (DPWH) District Engineer Ruel Umali, Andres Mariano Elementary School Principal Dr. Editha Baesa, and Bagbaguin National High School Principal Dr. Alejandrea Ylan.
