Legarda: PBBM must have a roadmap in staying on as DA secretary
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. must have a roadmap for deciding to stay on as Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary, Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda said.
Asked whether there should be a limit for the President to continue staying on as DA chief, Legarda said: "You know, i would like not to comment on that he must have a reason, he must have a roadmap.’’
She also refused to rate the President because "I never know how to judge by numbers."
Legarda expressed hopes that the President would eventually choose one who is focused on the job as DA chief "but I’ll leave it to his better judgment.’’
Queried by Senate reporters on how she evaluates the performance of the President, the ranking Senate leader said: "He is very hardworking.’’
She recalled how the President "reached out to the world there are some windows that were closed in the past."
"He reached out like the EU (European Union),’’ she said, adding that there are more windows to be opened.
Legarda also said she looks forward to working with newly-designated Health Secretary (Teodoro Herbosa) and the DA as deadlines have been set.
Whoever is the DA secretary or the President himself, unabated smuggling operations must stop, she said.
