The City Drugs Enforcement Unit (CDEU) identified the suspect as Harem Muleta, 36, of Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental. Muleta was arrested four days after the police seized 800 grams of suspected shabu valued at P5.4 million in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pahanocoy here. Police Capt. Joven Mogato, CDEU head, said they launched an operation against the suspect after they received information regarding the entry of illegal drugs here from the southern part of the province. Mogato believed that the illegal drugs came outside Western Visayas. He said the suspect has alleged links with Rowena Ponce and Jepe Balbon who were arrested for drug offenses this year. Ponce and her companion were arrested by the CDEU in a buy-bust operation in a rented house in Barangay Mandalagan here on Feb. 21. Suspects yielded 75 grams of suspected shabu worth P510,000. Balbon and three others were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Enclaro, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on June 1. Seized from them were 15 grams of suspected shabu worth P102,000. Mogato said they have yet to determine if the suspects belong to a drug group but investigation against them are ongoing. In a recent media interview, Police Col. Noel Aliño, acting Bacolod police director, said that one of their focus right now is to probe the linkages of arrested drug suspects to determine their sources of the illegal drugs.
