* The group was consisted of seven females and four males, all of whom aroused suspicion during the initial inspection conducted by primary inspectors. Officers of the travel control and enforcement unit expressed doubts regarding the stated purpose of their travel, especially since some members of the group had previously been offloaded and found in possession of employment visas. All 11 individuals were subsequently handed over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) Task Force in Cebu. Dubai has long been a favored destination for Filipino job seekers, either as a final stop or as a transit point to other African and Middle Eastern countries. However, reports of exploitation and abuse involving Filipinos who left the country without proper scrutiny of their employment contracts by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) have been brought to the attention of Philippine authorities. BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco commended the vigilance exhibited by the immigration officers at MCIA. "We applaud the hard work and dedication of our officers at the port," he said. The Immigration chief said that the incident served as a "testament" to the continuous efforts of the BI in combating human trafficking and safeguarding citizens from exploitation. "It serves as a reminder to potential overseas Filipino workers of the importance of adhering to the appropriate channels and obtaining the necessary documentation to ensure their safety and well-being while abroad," Tansingco stated. "Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the Philippines has retained its Tier 1 Ranking in the United States' Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report for eight consecutive years, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to combating human trafficking and providing support to victims," he added.
