Ateneo De Manila University (AdMU) topped Philippine universities in the list of schools featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings, the United Kingdom-based group revealed on Thursday, June 22.
In its first appearance in THE Asia rankings, Ateneo ranked 84th, making it the only Philippine institution in the top 100.
“We are honored to enter Times Higher Education’s Asia rankings for the first time, especially being ranked in the top 100,” said ADMU University president Fr. Roberto Yap.
“This feat is the product of years of hard work of the entire community, from faculty and researchers to staff, professionals, administrators, and our students. This only encourages us to further work on our shared mission to engage with society to affect positive change in the world,” he added.
The Asia University Rankings evaluates the “research-intensive universities” similarly to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Thus, the ranking’s weightings have been changed to reflect the “priorities of Asian institutions.”
Ateneo had the following scores:
Overall Score: 47.4
Teaching: 38.3
Citations: 97.0
Industry Income: 37.6
International Outlook: 31.8
Research: 11.6
Ateneo also topped all Philippine universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2023 on June 1, ranked 29 HEIs in the country with Ateneo placing 201-300 with a score of 79.1 out of 100 for the third year in a row.
